Labour have confirmed a full slate of candidates for the upcoming Winchester City Council elections on 5th May. Only the Conservatives and Labour are contesting all 45 seats in the all-out elections.
Patrick Davies, Labour Party Secretary and agent in the elections, seeking to regain the seat in St Luke Ward at Stanmore which he won 8 times and held for almost 30 years stated:
"The real challenge in this election is from the Labour Party which is fielding a full slate of 45 candidates to challenge the Tory regime which currently mismanages the City Council. The Liberal Democrats have failed to put forward a full slate of candidates and, with recently active Tories in their ranks, a national poll rating of around 6%, and a sorry history of how they last ran the City they can only be bit players in this contest. Meanwhile the 'Independent' challenge has been something of a damp squib with as little as four candidates put forward."
