Unite Community is leading again on a National Day of Action, Against Benefit Sanctions, and South East Community is proud to be supporting this year’s events:
Event: ‘No Sanctions Day’ – National Day of Action
Date: Thursday, 30th March 2017
Host: Unite Community
More and more people are facing benefit sanctions. Half a million people have had their benefits suddenly stopped by sanctions in the last 12 months.
That’s half a million people, many of whom have been plunged into poverty, unable to heat their homes or even eat. How is this meant to help prepare people for work?
Benefit sanctions must be fought against and Unite Community is leading that fight – Join us!
What can you do to help?
1) On Thursday, 30th March Community Members, and Friends, will be hosting local events to show our collective opposition to benefit sanctions as part of a mass National Day of Action.
Take a look at the growing list of events across the South East region, and try to get along to support one if you can. If there isn’t an event near you, and you would like to organise something, get in contact and we will help you plan your event…
3) Use the #No2Sanctions hashtag on social media and help our campaign reach a wider audience.
5) Take a look at the National ‘No Benefit Sanctions’ webpage, where you will find more information regarding the[cruel sanctions regime, and plenty of #No2Sanctions materials to help with your] cruel sanctions regime, and plenty of #No2Sanctions materials to help with your campaigning.
Unite Community prides itself on the work we do collectively to help other people and improve the communities in which we live. We value fairness, dignity, and respect above all else. We aim to empower the most vulnerable people in our society to make their voice heard.
The cruel benefit sanctions regime is unnecessary, and it doesn’t work - Join us on Thursday, 30th March at a ‘No Benefit Sanctions’ event near you and make a difference!
