Patrick Davies is a former Labour City Councillor who continues to take an active part in the future of our City, as a regular attender at City Council meetings, including Zoom meetings in the past year. He is a school governor and a member of the Council of the City of Winchester Trust. “My current priority is to see that Winchester recovers in the coming months from Covid 19 with sensible cooperation between the County and the City, and not the destructive point scoring from the present Tory and Lib Dem councillors.” Patrick is candidate for the County in Eastgate Division, and St Bartholomew Ward in the City. “Once all the restrictions are lifted in the summer we must encourage people to use the bus services again. In the plans for the City Centre a proper new bus station is vital, if we can sensibly reduce the use of cars and the damaging pollution in the City Centre.”
Patrick Davies is proud to be a governor of Lanterns Nursery School, which ran jointly with the Children’s Centre there until the Lib Dem/Tory coalition government started to cut their funding, under a Lib Dem Minister for Children. The school and the Children’s Centre were able to provide outstanding services to many communities across our City. Now the Tory Government won’t give proper funding for our nursery school in the coming year, though it’s one of only three maintained nursery schools in Hampshire. We need to restore the Labour Government’s aim to give children the best possible start in life through improvement to childcare, early education, mental and physical health and family support, with an emphasis on outreach and community development.
