My name is Megan Ball, I’m 25 years old and I’ve lived in Winchester for 5 years now. I moved here to study, and I haven’t left since! Winchester is my home now, and I spent the 3 years of my studies living in St Luke’s Ward. I’m passionate about making a difference in the local community and ensuring that proper representation is in place.
I’m currently the Student Union President at the University which means I speak on behalf of over 8,000 students that study there. This means I’m already involved in representation, and I often work with members of the local community and wider Winchester. I’m also the Women’s Officer for Winchester Labour, driven on fighting for women’s rights & equality both in the city and beyond.
I want to champion work on improving and strengthening local resident and student relations, because both sets of these people call St Luke’s their home. I also want to ensure that our green spaces and community facilities are protected – no one should be considering building or developing the parks off Cromwell Road and Stanmore Lane. I will also ensure that any decisions on parking or traffic put St Luke’s residents front and centre.
