I truly value the public sector which needs to be well funded to create a fairer society.
I currently work for the NHS as an administrator and previously worked in project management in the start-up of major education and skills initiatives.
I have been chair/secretary of Kings Worthy Preschool and served as a Kings Worthy Parish Councillor where I successfully campaigned for park equipment for children with disabilities.
Measures are clearly needed now to provide much more truly affordable housing, to invest in education and apprenticeships and improve the lives of those with disabilities and mental health issues. We need to work towards eliminating the need for food banks with a better standard of living for all and an end to the homelessness crisis.
There should be more democratic accountability at all levels of government. I am concerned over the lack of transparency in government contracts for covid-19, the billions spent on Test & Trace and about proposals to restrict the right to protest.
I enjoy cycling and running so I’m an advocate of dedicated cycle paths and support effective strategies such as clean air and less pollution.
For my whole life, I have been an activist for Labour. When I was growing up in Sheffield at the time of the pit closures I was struck by how the government ignored the social and cultural implications of shutting down industry. I believe in a well- funded NHS, integrated with social care and other public services, a caring welfare system, good quality education for all, equality and social justice.
